English Language Students will explore a range of fiction and non-fiction texts such as In the Sea there are Crocodiles by Fabio Geda and Animal Farm by George Orwell. English Literature Students will explore texts such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare in addition to a selection of poetry and a range of 19 th century novels

English Language Students will explore a range of fiction and non-fiction texts to help prepare them for English Language Paper 1 and English Language Paper 2. English Literature Students will learn, revise and consolidate the analysis of the following GCSE texts: Macbeth by William Shakespeare Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson An Inspector Calls by J B Priestley Conflict and Power Poetry Cluster by AQA

In addition to the GCSE texts outlined above, the following 19 th century novels/texts are also recommended: Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dracula by Bram Stoker. Test your child on memorisation of key quotes being learnt in English. Check they are completing their homework in a quiet and calm environment with no distractions.
