FGCS Pupil retakes GCSEs to try out harder grading system
An FGCS pupil retook his GCSEs to test himself under the new, tougher grading system.
Malachi Castro already passed all his GCSEs aged 14, but the 16-year-old took the qualifications again this summer, achieving 9s in all 10 subjects.
He said: “I really wanted to push myself to see if I could make the grades under this new system. Everyone was saying how tough they are and I wanted that extra challenge.
“I really can’t believe I’ve done so well. Some of the exams I found hard and some went smoothly, it’s overwhelming.
“To know I am among just a few students across the country to have got the top grades in every subject is an amazing feeling.”
It’s thought that just 732 pupils nationwide achieved 9s across the board, which is the equivalent to above an A*.
Headteacher Charlotte Whelan, said: “Our students have worked so hard and done so well. Malachi’s results are absolutely incredible and we couldn’t be prouder.”
